The Agenda for the 21st Century
What is the main message of Brave New World?
Brave New World warns of the dangers of giving the state control over new and powerful technologies. One illustration of this theme is the rigid control of reproduction through technological and medical intervention, including the surgical removal of ovaries, the Bokanovsky Process, and hypnopaedic conditioning.
'Conditioning, or a process by which an individual is prepared for his or her role in society, takes place within the society of Aldous Huxley's dystopian novel Brave New World. We saw that many of these instances of conditioning are caste-based, being designed to teach basic behavior suitable for an entire caste.'
Very much what we are experiencing right now - straight off the pages of the book. Note 'hypnopaedic conditioning' - repeating over and over and over eg 'We are in this together'.
